Nissa La Bella meaning Nice the beautiful!, also the name of the unofficial anthem of Nice, written by Menicsa Rondelly in 1912

For much of its history Nice was not affiliated just with France, but Italy as well; belonging to French Provence until 13th Century and then to House of Savoy (which ultimately unified what we now now as Italy) before being returned to French rule in 1860 after the fall of Napoleon .
